Hyperhidrosis – Excess sweating!Summer is here and so is an odd worry – of sweating and body odour. No matter how many deodorants or talcum powders you try, there is no respite from the profuse sweating of the summer months.
So much so that it puts people off and ruins your confidence. People laugh, make brief conversations and move away, nobody likes to stick around for too long.
It’s the story of so many people who have a tendency to sweat too much and smell too much!
Sweating also triggers itching and irritation.
The bad odour which accompanies sweating also poses a question over one’s personal hygiene.
It causes discomfort both physically and emotionally.
Excessive sweating is called hyperhidrosis.
People who appear to suffer from over active sweat glands. When excessive sweating affects the hands, feet and armpits, it’s called primary or focal hyperhidrosis.
Primary hyperhidrosis affects 2-3% of the population, yet less than 40% of patients with this condition seek medical advice. In the majority or primary hyperhidrosis cases, no cause can be found.
Botox remains one of, if not the most effective non-surgical treatments for hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. The treatment is safe, effective, quick and the effects last over six months.
Treatment for Hyperhidrosis??
At Visage clinic we have treated many people with genuine hyperhidrosis. They have exhausted the full range of super strength deodorants and antiperspirant powders that can be bought over the counter.
The treatment starts with a detailed consultation with one of our fully registered Irish doctors. A medical history is taken. Then an iodine solution is applied to the affected skin. After that a bicarbonate based powder is applied to the skin and the areas where the sweat glands are most active turn purple.
The areas of affected skin are then marked out with a water based ink.
Then a series of quick and painless botox injects are administered to the area and that’s it!
In about a week you will notice a dramatic decrease in the amount that you are sweating. By two weeks you will have stopped sweating completely or almost completely.
Yes! Botox injections to stop excess sweating are extremely popular with Brides-to-be and wedding parties. Ladies nobody wants sweat patches running their tan or their wedding dress on the big day!
What if I don’t suffer for Hyperhidrosis, can I still get Botox injections to stop me sweating?
Botox injections offer an absolutely effective way to ensure that everyone’s eyes will be on you and how radiant you look on your wedding days and not on a sweat patch soaked dress or streaming and smeared fake tan!
